Salsa Summer Camp 2018 at Idrætshøjskolen Bosei

It is the 12th time we do the Salsa Summer Camp! If you like Salsa and Cuban rhythms, this is where it happens!
We have classes for all levels - both beginner-intermediate, intermediate, advanced and very advanced. Everyone can participate, both singles and couples.

Week 30: Sunday 22nd - Saturday 28th July 2018
There will be 4 different levels:
1: Beginner-Intermediate
2: Intermediate
3: Advanced
4: Very advanced
Next year we expand with one level more for complete beginners. If you have any doubts about your dance level, see our guide under dance descriptions.
There is 4 1/2 hours of classes daily with pauses, in two times a day. (The classes are in 4 different rooms).
Accomodation
We have for 7 years been at Rødkilde Teaterhøjskole, which is now renovated, and they are going to make their own summer courses. Therefore last summer we where at Langebæk Kursus and Retreat Center, as an exchange period. But now we have found a fantastic new place, only an hour from Copenhagen. Fantastic place and the loveliest facilities :) !
Facilities at Bosei
The main building was originally a sanatorium, and since they have expanded with Japanese inspired buildings. There is a swimming hall, work out center, several activity- and sport rooms, and fantastic natural environment. There is also a Japanese library, creativ workshop, music room and much more. Around the buildings there is woods, a soccer field, tennis courts and more. It is not far away from the ocean, so it is possible to also take a beach trip.
Rooms
This year there will be space for approx. 115 participants in total. There are 40 double rooms and 20 single rooms. There is room for 15 tents (not big family tents, or caravans). Next year there will be space for approx. 165 participants. Every year we have 30% couples and 70% singles from all over the country, and the rest of Scandinavia, and a few from the rest of Europa, that participates in our fantastic salsa camp.
We are always striving to get the number of women and men to match, so that there is an even distribution. If we can see that there is a smaller number of women, we will close sign up for women, until we can see that it is offset. Then we open up for registration of women again.
Participate in all our activities, without accomodation
It is also possible to participate only at the course, and all the activities, without staying at Idrætshøjskolen Bosei.
The classes
The classes are very intensive. You will on the course besides Salsa, also learn a little: Reggaetón, Bachata, Son, Afro-Cuban dance and Rumba. These dances will only be danced in the afternoon. Before that, there will only be teached in Salsa.
You don’t need to have a dance partner to participate, but it is always a good idea to try to find a friend, that will join., as we always pursue to have equally amount of men and women. If you go to dance classes, you can ask one from your dancing team, if the Salsa Camp could be something for them. You shift dancing partners all the time, on every team, so everyone will get danced with a lot of different people.
To you, who have never tried to dance Salsa before, we can say, that everyone who went to the Salsa Camp last year, have learned to dance when the camp was over.
To all your, who already dance, we always have some new to bring to the table. The classed are very inspiring, and fun to do.
The teachers at this camp
Yorgenis Danger Garcia, Yoli Mendez Brown, Saul Perez Valdes, Yaima Viera Palli, Demis González Miranda, Anier Sanchez Sandoval, Solange Fernandez and Stine Ortvad. Our assistant teachers are: Jaime, Tomasito, Ida, Henri and Yunier.

When we were at Rødkilde Højskole, we had the levels split up in different weeks. In these videos you can get an impressure. At this camp we have ONE big camp with all levels together. (The classes will be at 4 different rooms).
Program
Arrival Sunday
Everyone arrives at the school between 17:00 – 19:00. When you arrive, go to the dining room, and you will get a room.
There is dinner at 19:00 – 20:00.
20:30 – 21:00 Information meeting in the ballroom.
21:00 to 23:00 Salsa dance (here everyone will be guided to which level they will dance at during the week)
Monday afternoon there is opportunity to buy dance shoes.
Teaching from Monday til Friday
08:00 - 09:00: Breakfast
09:15 - 09:20: Morning meeting (in the hall)
09:30 - 11:00: Dance classes/Salsa and Rueda de Casino
11:00 - 11:15: Break (fruit and water)
11:15 - 12:30: Dance classes
13:00 - 13:30: Lunch
13:30 - 15:30: Free time and relaxing (evt. a trip to the beach)
15:30 - 16:00: Coffe and cake
16:00 - 17:30: Workshops (choose between Salsa, Men/ Lady Styling, Bachata, Reggaetón, Rumba, Afro-Cuban dance
17:45 - 18:45: The swimming pool is open
19:00 - 20:00: Dinner
20:00 - 21:00: "Hygge" and lecture
21:00 - 24:00: The nights Salsa party (the final party Friday is till 03.00)
There is a pause in the middle of the day (Monday-Friday), so you have time to relax, enjoy the swimming hall, go to the beach, enjoy a walk in the city or get a lovely massage from our fantastic masseuse, that is with us the whole course.
In the evening there is more dance, where we make one of the dance tents to a Salsa Disco, so everyone can train what they have learned during the day and have fun together. We have a nice, cheap bar and take cash and Mobile Pay.
Friday the 27th there is a final party

This is an open event, where everyone can participate. The party is included in the price for the Salsa Camp participants.
Guests can sign up here. The price is 300 kr (dinner and party). If you only wish to participate in the party (without dinner) the price is 120 kr. You sign up here. (you need to create a quick profile to pay)
If you are not signed up for the Salsa Camp, but you would like to participate in the final party and dinner, please make a reservation in good time ahead.

Important info: Like other years, we will ask everyone to bring their towels, sheets and bedding (not duvets and pillows). Remember track suits, soft shoes or dancing shoes. The first day it is possible to buy dancing shoes down here. There are not private baths, but shared baths in the halls, that are separated in gender. These bath is also used by those who sleeps in the tents.
